LazosLearning’s initial collaboration is with the Colombia-based Foundation for the Application and Teaching of the Sciences (FUNDAEC).

Since 1974, FUNDAEC has worked to foster processes of learning, training, and development in rural and marginalized areas of Colombia. This work, undertaken together with the populations FUNDAEC serves, has led to the creation of a number of programs and materials that have been successful in forming human resources for development. FUNDAEC’s secondary and higher education programs have spread to several other countries in Central and South America, and recent interest in its programs internationally, as well as preliminary initiatives to offer courses online, have allowed people in a number of more distant regions to benefit from FUNDAEC’s experience and educational content. Increasing international interest, and the success with which initial online efforts have met, demonstrate a need to which FUNDAEC and LazosLearning can respond through their collaboration in offering FUNDAEC-developed courses via the internet.

At present, LazosLearning is offering two of FUNDAEC’s courses: A Discourse on Social Action and Constructing a Conceptual Framework for Social Action. Both are units of study taught in Colombia at the Centro Universitario de Bienestar Rural (University Center for Rural Wellbeing), the former a university-level course, and the latter the first module of a specialization-level graduate program in Education for Development.
